Father’s Day

Posted June 20th, 2010 by Stacie

If you look up the history of Father’s day you will see that it was not declared a holiday until 40 years after Mother’s day was declared a holiday. Coincidence?? I think not! Who really does most of the work? Who bears the children? Who carries the children for nine, sometimes close to ten, months. When children hurt themselves who do they cry for? Mommy. When they become big football stars and they get a touchdown and the camera is on them, when you read their lips, what do they say? “Hi Mom!” Father’s day has never really been a big deal for me. Don’t get me wrong there are some Dad’s out there who do a PHENOMENAL job and I am most certainly not trying to take away from the at all. I’m really focusing on the fathers who don’t deserve the title Dad or Daddy. What have they done to earn this title? Just creating a child does not give you the right to call yourself a “Daddy”. A Daddy does not just create a child. A Daddy loves nurtures and cherishes the child that they have created. Being a single mom I have the role of both parents, as did my mother for most of our years growing up. Steve entered the scene when i was about 13, poor guy! lol! HE has been a great stepfather and is an AWESOME Papa! My Dad has been in and out for most of my life and just recently I have let loose with some pent up feelings. It felt good to get it out. Now I’m just working on the forgiving part. I am rambling on a bit now…basically I would like to commend all of the Daddies out there and Mommies that are there for children EVERY day.

Happy Father’s Day
